Woman Charged After Bairnsdale Stabbing Spree Leaves Four Men Injured

BAIRNSDALE, Victoria – A 24-year-old woman has been formally charged by Bairnsdale police following a series of alleged stabbings on Thursday evening that left four men wounded.

Authorities report that the incident began around 9:50 PM on May 29, when an erratically behaving woman entered a supermarket on Nicholson Street. Inside the store, she allegedly stabbed a male staff member in the stomach before fleeing the premises.

The woman was then seen heading towards a nearby fast-food restaurant car park. There, she reportedly approached a man in his vehicle, demanding a lift. An altercation ensued, resulting in the man sustaining a laceration to his stomach.

Continuing her alleged spree, the woman is believed to have proceeded to a hotel on Macleod Street, where she assaulted a man in his 50s, causing a non-life-threatening laceration to his arm. Her path then led to the railway station, where she allegedly stabbed a man in his 20s in the shoulder.

The 24-year-old woman, identified as being from Ravenhall, has been charged with intentionally causing injury and recklessly causing injury. She is scheduled to appear in the Bairnsdale Magistrates' Court today.

The male supermarket staff member was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The three other victims received minor injuries and were also taken to the hospital for treatment.
